During the Belle Epoque, a new and gracious style spreads through Europe and beyond. It has a different name in each country :  Art Nouveau, Jugendstil, Wiener Stil, Modernista, Stile Liberty, New Art. But behind all of these names is a shared desire of artists to break away from the tatsteless neo-styles that have prevailed during most of the nineteenth century.  At the same time they want to react against the uniform and inferior products of modern industry. An artistic revolution finds its form in craftmanship of high luxury with either silky arabesques and feminin curves, or clean and geometric patterns.
