The Vrije Academie is moving! At the start of the new year the Vrije Academie will move into our new building at the Herengracht – previously known as Cromhouthuis. This seventeenth-century canal house was built in 1660-1662 by the famous Dutch architect Philip Vingboons, known for his neo-classical style. Parts of the house still resemble this rich history, like the breathtakingly beautiful wooden staircase, the historical kitchens and Jacob de Wit paintings. This guided tour will give you a glimpse of what seventeenth-century life was like in the heart of the Amsterdam canal district. Furthermore, this tour will introduce you to all the things the Vrije Academie has to offer! Not only are there four different lecture halls, also an exhibition space, a shop and a garden café.
